The poor economy has ruined lives, with lost jobs, homes and broken marriages. However, the turn down in economic activity also brought multiple generations into the same home, caused some to rediscover the joys of a home cooked meal and finally saw a reduction in automobile deaths across much of the United States. Arizona, California and Hawaii actually saw an increase in traffic fatalities over 2011 while the New England states experienced a 7.3% drop in deaths in vehicle accidents. Traffic fatalities in Nevada also fell in 2011, where 243 people died in traffic accidents compared to 257 in 2010 from deaths in Nevada traffic accidents. If you or a loved one has been hurt or killed in a Nevada traffic accident, and would like to sue to recover lost work, medical costs and pain and suffering, contact NV-Attorney today for a free legal consultation.

Southern Nevada traffic deaths so far in the first quarter of 2012, however, have jumped nearly 25%. Correspondingly, in Southern Nevada and Las Vegas, there has been a significant rise (almost 100%) for pedestrian accidents so far this year. If you are the victim of a Nevada automobile accident, NV-Attorney will work with local courts and insurance companies to get you the reimbursement you deserve.

On Sunday, a woman, aged 60 was killed when she was struck by a car while she was crossing West Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas are 5 o’clock in the morning. The woman, named Amezquita Pamatz was struck by a 2010 Nissan Altima. The Altima had a green light when it crossed the intersection and struck Ms. Pamatz. The 60-year old woman was transported to UMC and pronounced dead at the hospital.

The attorneys at NV-Attorney work across the Silver State to ensure people injured in Southern Nevada traffic accidents receive all the compensation they deserve.

Multiple product recalls announced recently pose injury and possible death concerns for many Nevadans. These product recalls of over thousands of shipped and were possibly sold by many Silver State retailers. If you have been injured by a defective product sold in Nevada, contact NV-Attorney.com for a free legal consultation today.

One of the recalls announced recently poses significant danger to Nevada’s toddlers. Target recently recalled 264,000 bunny rabbit shaped sippy cups, sold in light blue and pink. The bunny sippy cups, which sold for $3, pose an eye poking danger to young children. The left sippy cup’s bunny ear pokes up as far as the sippy cups straw, and has the potential to poke a toddler in the eye. The products can be returned to one of the 19 target locations across Nevada. If your child has been harmed by a recalled product sold in Nevada, log onto NV-Attorney.com

Nebraska lawn mower manufacturer, Exmark, recently announced the recall of 2,200 42” Quest Riding Lawn mowers. Fasteners supporting the driver’s seat can fail, which would cause the seat to fall and cause the driver to lose control of the riding lawn mower. The riding lawn mowers retailed between $4200 and $4400 at the nearly 10 Exmark dealers in and around Nevada. Exmark dealers are providing free repairs to owners of the Quest 42” Riding Lawn Mowers. Consumers should call 800-667-5296 or head to www.exmark.com/safety.aspx to schedule a repair. If you have been injured or had a family member killed by a Nevada defective product, log onto NV-Attorney.com to begin recouping money spent on medical costs, lost work and for pain and suffering.

Finally, as the weather across the State of Nevada improves, and the calendar turns to summer, consumers are warned to check on whether the summer associated products they are taking out of storage have been subject to a recall. About 90,000 STOK gas grills sold in the more than twenty Home Depot retailers across Nevada. Contact One World Technologies toll free at 800-867-964 for information about returning your grill

15-year old Conan Obenchain woke up early on Sunday morning and decided to head to Wal-Mart. Too young to drive, he sat at the bus stop on Spring Mountain Rd sipping a Coca Cola. Noel Lardeo, a first-grade teacher with the Roger Bryan Elem. School, was driving her 2005 Acura when witnesses say she ran a red light, lost control of her vehicle, smashed into the bus stop where Oberchain was waiting and the hit a palm tree. Mr. Oberchain was thrown six feet by the impact of the accident, his left leg was amputated and his right was attached to his leg only by shreds of skin and muscle. If you or a loved one has suffered a catastrophic injury from a Las Vegas pedestrian accident, please contact NV-Attorney.com today.

Medical bills from the accident as estimated by the Obenchain family have reached over $1,000,000. While the family has set up an account with NV National bank for those who would like to donate to help the family defray the costs, it’s still important for them to retain counsel as Ms. Lardeo and her insurance provider should reimburse Conan Obenchain and his family for medical costs, pain and suffering and even lost work. While one leg has been amputeated, Mr. Oberchain’s physicians are endeavoring to save the other. If you were the victim of a Clark County pedestrian accident, contact NV-Attorney.com for a free legal consultation.

The National Football League is the most popular league with the most popular sport in the United States. Nearly every year, the Super Bowl, the league’s championship game, scores all-time high television viewer ratings. Networks like ESPN, CBS, NBC and FOX spend millions just for the rights to broadcast games. The quality of the games usually do not matter, the ratings for nationally televised games featuring teams at the bottom of the standings are usually the highest for all shows broadcast that evening. During the offseason, skills competitions and the Pro Bowl (the NFL’s All Star Game), continually get great ratings. Even college football’s ratings are on the rise. It has been repeatedly discussed throughout the media that concussions and the long term effects of repeated concussions are the only threat to football’s hegemony over America’s media landscape. If you or someone you love has suffered long-term brain injury from a football related concussion at any level (high school, college or professional) and would like to recoup money for lost work, medical costs and pain and suffering, contact Benson and Bingham for a free legal consultation today.

While the NFL and football at all levels are altering procedures for concussion care, these precautions may not adequately address the problem. Harvard University is currently collecting the post-mortem brains of football players from all levels to study the effects repeated concussions. They have found brains of normally healthy 40 and 50 year old former players that resemble the brains of elderly sufferers of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. The danger to the sport’s popularity will likely come from a continued reduction of players – if the dangers from post-concussion dementia continue to drive parents from allowing their children to continue to compete in the sport, the talent pool could dry up. Troy Aikman, the Super Bowl winning, Hall of Fame quarterback from the NFL’s most popular franchise recently stated as much during an appearance at a Zócalo Public Square event in Los Angeles. If you have suffered from depression and reduced mental capacity from repeated concussions playing football, contact Benson and Bingham to discuss your case today.

Benson and Bingham are Nevada personal injury attorneys who lead the state in personal injury cases. While the attorneys have successfully litigated many brain injury cases they have also won multiple car accident, workplace injury, wrongful death and other types of personal injury cases. In 2010 and 2011, the firm successfully accrued over $24,000,000 in awards for their clients.

In Late October 2010, Nevada Highway Patrol and Henderson Police officers approached the 4-door sedan driven by Adam Greene with guns drawn. Even though officers were screaming at him to exit his vehicle, Adam Greene didn’t move. Moments later, an officer kicked in the driver’s side window of Mr. Greene’s car, pulling him to the ground and screaming.

As the officers pulled Adam Greene from his car, he was thrown to the ground. Additional officers came to the scene, repeatedly kicking Adam Greene on the ground. One even screamed “Stop resisting, mother#$%!er repeatedly. Then Mr. Greene was searched and police found insulin on his person. Quickly realizing they had not beaten a drunk driver but instead someone in diabetic shock, the Nevada Highway Patrol and Henderson Police officers openly discussed fallout from the incident. If you have been victim of a police assault and would like to begin a Nevada personal injury case to recover monetary reimbursement for lost work, medical bills and pain & suffering, contact Benson and Bingham, one of the leading Las Vegas personal injury law firms for a free legal consultation.

Mr. Greene was eventually awarded nearly $300,000 for the attack. Additionally, Henderson City Manager, Mark Calhoun retired and today it was announced that Henderson Police Chief Jutta Chambers would also resign. At this time, disciplinary proceedings against the Nevada Highway Patrol or Henderson Police officers involved with the incident have not been announced. If you have been injured in a police brutality personal injury incident involving a Las Vegas Area police department, contact Benson and Bingham for a free legal consultation today.

In 2010 and 2011, Benson and Bingham secured over $24,000,000 in injury awards for their clients. The law firm’s Nevada licensed attorneys work to develop strong and trusting relationships with their clients to ensure all of a case’s facts are presented to the jury.

Fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas power much of America’s and Nevada’s economy. Some of the energy in Nevada is generated by renewable means as well, including the gigantic turbines at Hoover Dam, geothermal installations across the Northern areas of the Silver State. The mountains of the Sierras are increasingly providing more and more wind power to Nevada and small solar installations are powering homes across the state while Southern Nevada is seeing more and more construction of large scale solar farms, feeding even more electricity to the power grid.

The majority of electricity generated across the country and in Nevada is generated by the burning of coal. Coal, while very inexpensive to burn per kilowatt hour, spews a broad range of toxins into the atmosphere. Those toxins have repeatedly been found to cause significant respiratory problems for those who live near power plants. Recent findings by universities and the EPA in Boston, Providence, and Chicago have found that the toxins associated with burning fossil fuels also can increase the incidence of stroke and memory loss. Valley communities like Las Vegas, Clark County, Reno, Sparks and Washoe County are especially vulnerable to the dangerous air conditions due to pollution. If you have suffered serious health effects in Las Vegas due to polluting fossil fuels, contact Benson and Bingham for a free legal consultation today.

Benson and Bingham are one of the leading personal injury attorneys in the State of Nevada. Our attorneys work to develop trusting and communicative relationships with our clients, so we are best able to represent them. These trusting relationships enable our attorneys to zealously represent our clients through negotiations and in court. While we cannot promise a successful outcome to your case, our attorneys have had significant recent success – in 2010 and 2011 we secured over $24,000,000 in injury awards for our clients.

The Reno, Nevada area has had more than its fair share of tragedies in the past few months. In Late June, an Amtrak train crashed into a truck stuck on train tracks, killing 6, including the truck driver and the train conductor. In September, a three were killed and six were wounded in a shooting at a Carson City IHOP. In mid-September, 11 people were killed when a modified P-51 Mustang crashed during the Reno Air Races.

November and January saw horrific fires race across South Reno. The November Reno fire, caused by arching power lines, destroyed 26 homes, burning 2,000 acres and killing one. In January, 29 homes were destroyed, another person was killed and 4,000 acres were burned. Investigators believe the cause of the fire was improperly disposed of fireplace ashes.

The Reno, Nevada area has responded very well to these tragedies. After each one, hundreds of people donated blood at area hospitals. During the Air Race crash, civilians rushed to aid those injured, providing comfort to and triaging wounded even before first responders arrived. During the Reno fires, evacuation centers at local high schools received donations of blankets, toiletries and more by the thousands. Individuals across the city opened their homes to those displaced by the fires. Even local area hotels offered special rates to individuals who had become homeless due to the fires.

In almost all of these accidents, the responsible individuals and/or companies have been remorseful. And, while many of the individuals whose property was destroyed, have been injured or killed had insurance, it is still important for everyone injured or who has family members killed in a train accident, house fire or airplane crash to retain legal counsel in Northern Nevada personal injury cases. Please contact Benson and Bingham for a free legal consultation today.

Las Vegas and Southern Nevada rely on the Colorado River for its very existence. Without the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, Las Vegas would have significant problems meeting the water needs of the tourists who visit Las Vegas Casinos much less the water needs of the 1.9 million people living in the La s Vegas Metropolitan Area.

Nevada’s largest industry, Las Vegas casino tourism is only possible because of water from the Colorado River and Lake Mead. The second largest industry in Nevada, mining, relies on water for their success as tourism.

However, unregulated mining can have detrimental effects on the surrounding water supply. Often, waste products from the processing of minerals are released. Other times, run off from a mining operation ends up in the water supply, reducing water quality for those down river who consume it.

Because of this, over the years, Nevada’s communities, legislature, cities, counties, mining industry and governors, both Democrat and Republican, took significant steps over the years to improve water quality on the Colorado River, placing significant restrictions on how Nevada’s mining companies dispose of waste water and how they handle run off from their operations. While much of these restrictions and prohibitions have been effective, millions still may have been exposed to poisons, heavy metals and more. If you have been sickened by a mining operation and believe you qualify for reimbursement of health care costs and for lost work in a Nevada personal injury case, contact the lawyers of Benson and Bingham for a free consultation.

Unfortunately, even though Nevada has taken significant water protection safeguards, recent actions by the representatives of neighboring states, Arizona and Utah, who share the Colorado River with the Silver State, potentially endanger Southern Nevada’s water supply. Should the bill pass the United States House of Representatives, Senate and be signed by the President, millions of acres of the Arizona Strip, federal land upriver of Las Vegas, could be opened up to uranium mining. If you or a family member are sickened by heavy metals leached into the water supply due to mining, go to NV-attorney.com and sign up for a free legal consultation.

If you are looking for a Nevada attorney to represent you in a personal injury case, please consider Benson and Bingham. As leading Nevada personal injury attorneys, we can represent you against insurance companies, ensuring you are not taken advantage of.

More then 4,500 O-Grill Portable Gas Grills manufactured by Uni-O industries have been voluntarily recalled due to fire and burn dangers from using the gas grills. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall this month, and owners of the Iroda O-Grill Portable Gas Grills, models 100o and 3000 bought prior to 2010, are advised to stop using the product and return immediately to avoid any risk of fire or burns.

There have already been ten reports of the grills catching on fire, and surely countless others have not submitted a report. The grills are light wait and portable, often used for tailgating or other outdoor events, which often results in not having the same safety equipment individuals would have if grilling at home. This increases the risk of burn injury or fires spreading due to the absence of fire extinguisher or other safety gear to alleviate fire hazards.

The greatest issue w/ the grills is the absence of ventilator slots in the regulator cover between the grill and propane tanks, either a one pound or ten pound propane tank that attaches to the grill. If you have been injured by an Iroda O-Grill gas grill, please contact the Consumer Product Safety Commission and consider taking legal action through a qualified personal injury attorney.

Walgreens, REI, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dillards, LLBean, and BBQG are a few of the retailers that sold the grill between November, 2008 and December, 2010. The product was manufactured in China and retailed for $149 for the 1000 Iroda O-Grill or $189 for the 3000 Iroda O-Grill. Uni-O offers a free replacement grill to owners of the above grill and are advised to immediately contact them toll-free at (888) 847-8968 to prohibit the risks of burns or fire.

Benson & Bingham understand the risks of fire and burn injury from consumer products such as grills, space heaters, fans and other products manufactured at home or abroad. Nevadans that believe they have been injured due to a malfunctioning or poorly built consumer product can contact our Las Vegas, NV attorneys for a free consultation by emailing or calling us at 702-382-9797.

December 14, 2011 in Midtown, New York an advertising executive was killed when she stepped onto a malfunctioning elevator that lurched up when she stepped in prior to the doors closing. This caused her body to wedge between the floor of the elevator and door entrance frame. Last year in New York alone, there were 53 accidents with 3 fatalities. This sudden surge by the elevator crushed her body, and the investigation continues. It is believed the elevator was old and many violations were issued in recent years.

Las Vegas continues to have major modern fleet of elevators given the new construction, however the elevators are not immune to problems especially in the older hotels and casinos. Benson & Bingham is a Nevada leader in elevator accidents.
