This horrible auto accident in the Reno area occurred when the driver of a sport utility vehicle struck a man who was riding his moped near the intersection of Northtowne Lane and North McCarran Boulevard in Reno. According to bystanders, the deceased was driving westbound when he was struck by the sport utility vehicle, thought to be possible a Toyota Tacoma or a Toyota 4-Runner (if it was a Tacoma, then with a camper shell), swerved out of its lane and struck the moped driven by the deceased. The sport utility vehicle carried or dragged the moped and rider for quite some distance, possible a hundred yards, before the moped and rider were dislodged. The driver, horribly, kept on going following this accident which led to a wrongful death in Reno.
The driver at fault took some time to be apprehended. Reno Police went so far as put out a description of the vehicle and driver, and ask people to call in with tips or clues if they saw anything resembling the sport utility vehicle that struck the moped rider. They made Secret Witness available, as well as a phone number that people could text in tips to, in addition to the Reno Police’s man number, and their Traffic Unit.
The driver responsible for this wrongful death in Washoe County was finally apprehended and, as early stated, convicted and received a 15 year sentence for his crimes.
