On Monday, October 29th, an unidentified man ran across Interstate 80 in Reno near Rock Blvd. The man was struck and killed after being hit by a truck that was travelling within accepted speed limits on the highway.
The driver of the truck that hit the pedestrian running across the super highway is a Nevada Highway Patrol Officer. The officer, who was driving a personal vehicle, was tested at the scene for alcohol and drug intoxication, and was deemed to not have been driving under the influence. Due to a potential conflict of interest, the Nevada Highway Patrol has ceded jurisdiction over the accident, and it is now under investigation by the Reno Police Department.
